Kat Leonard’s Myselfie Show is a comedic approach to loving your body, an epic original musical comedy storytelling one-self show. It is highly engaging, energetic and thought-provoking with audience interaction components. 

Curriculum Focus: Myselfie is a cross-curricular experience involving health, arts, drama, language, writing, media literacy, social studies and humanities.

Themes: Themes explored include body image, self-esteem, social media literacy, perception, identity, attitudes, core values, critical thinking, lateral thinking, self-expression, communication, character development, empathy, creativity, music, dance, improvisation.

Age Appropriateness: Myselfie length and vocabulary can be tailored and made suitable to audiences of all ages and sensitivities.

-dynamic interactive high-energy and down-to-earth performance with original music, singing, dancing and humorous storytelling
-finding humour learning life lessons; self-discovery through stories and music

-exploring perception, metacognition, gratitude, empathy and positive mindset

30-60 minute Workshop:
(Recommended maximum 30 students)
-students use the creative process to begin work developing their own Myselfie experience and show
-students do brief critical analysis of Kat’s Myselfie performance and discuss thoughts and emotions brought up as well as awareness of the impact of these thoughts and emotions
 -students interpret and discuss media images, their authenticity and elicited responses
-students are guided to use the creative process to develop a point of view and message regarding their own body while they learn practical artistic skills and exercises for self-expression, communication and presentation

-students learn skills of communication, collaboration, acceptance, adaptation
-students learn daily habits to process thoughts and feelings, develop self-awarness, self-confidence, mindfulness, a sense of wellbeing and personal growth

Mentorship/Residency Program: (timing negotiable)
-approximately 10 hours in the classroom
-students use the creative process
 to create their own Myselfie performance, culminating in a showcase of performances, each student presenting 5-10 minutes of material from monologues, music, poetry, dance, media imagery and more
-students develop a point of view and message, learn practical artistic skills and exercises for self-expression, communication and presentation skills
-students are lead both in groups and independently to explore topics and feelings through brainstorming, improvising, mind-mapping
-with feedback from peers, students are encouraged to focus ideas and points of view into a short presentation, and to present and refine presentation for showcase
-through shared exploration and creativity, students gain confidence, focus, inspiration, skills in reflecting, processing, improvising, writing, revising, communicating and producing work for self and presentation purposes that can be used in the creative realm as well as in the pursuit of positive everyday living
-students learn skills of communication, collaboration, acceptance, adaptation
-students learn daily habits to process thoughts and feelings, develop self-awarness, self-confidence, mindfulness, a sense of wellbeing and personal growth
